Enplan Group was involved in the Hydrogeological Mapping of Nigeria involving the hydrogeological status survey of hydrological area HA1 covering Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara States. Enplan Group was also   Hydrogeological National Water Resources Inventory Surveys of the National Water Resources Master Plan covering Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Kwara States as well as the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Abuja which was

sponsored by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Experience gained in this and other similar projects will be invaluable to the current assignment.
Other River Basin Development projects include the feasibility studies of the Cross River Basin, the Anambra Imo River Basin, the Jare River Basin and various master plans for universities.

Enplan Group has also had experience in Network projects including the monitoring and management of hydrometric network stations in the Anambra-Imo River and Cross River Basins. The systematic exploration and development of groundwater resources is an important element of Enplan Group's activities.
The resources of this group provide expertise in geology, hydrogeology, surface and downhole geophysics and all aspects of groundwater engineering. Its experience covers work in widely varying geological and climatic environments ranging from sedimentary sandstones and igneous rocks in the northern parts of the country to alluvium and Karstic limestones in the middle and southern regions of Nigeria. Reports produced by Enplan Group have presented many original concepts which have helped to advance groundwater development theory and practice. Groundwater projects, which have been implemented by the Consultants, include such components as:

  •    Identification of potential aquifers and recharge zones|;
  •   hydrogeological data collection, well inventory and mapping;
  •   geophysical surveys;
  •   design and supervision of well drilling and testing programmes;
  •   geophysical and lithological logging of boreholes;
  •   water sampling, testing and hydrochemical interpretation;
  •   economical design of wells and associated pumping plant;
  •   groundwater development planning;
  • project design and supervision of construction.

In particular, Enplan Group is one of the pioneers of groundwater development planning using digital groundwater models. This has included the use of TV borehole logging in well rehabilitation studies and the design and supervision of wellfield construction and conveyance works, including the consideration of corrosion resistant pump and casing materials. A further interesting aspect of Enplan Group's work has been assistance to government departments in setting up new groundwater sections and associated pilot exploration and development schemes. It has included procurement of equipment and well components, training of drilling, hydrogeological and mechanical maintenance staff, groundwater modelling and assistance with associated irrigation, agriculture, and operational aspects.

Groundwater pollution control has become an increasing important

Part of Enplan Group's work in recent years. Assignments include:

  • investigation and treatment of pollution from spillage of industrial chemicals;
  • evaluation of waste disposal sites;
  • appraisal of contamination problems associated with mine developments.

Some  projects the firm has handled in these fields include:

  • Hydrogeological Mapping of Nigeria covering the inventory survey of the status of hydrgeology in  Hydrogeological Area 1 (HA1) covering Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto Kebbi, Niger and Kwara states;
  • The National Water Resources Inventory Survey of the National Water Resources masterplan covering Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger and Kwara States as well as the Federal Capital Territory Abuja consistent with Zone ‘B';
  • onitoring and management of hydro-meteorological stations, boreholes and wells in Anambra and Imo river Basins;
  • Monitoring and management of hydro-meteorological stations, boreholes and wells in the Cross River Basin for and on behalf of Hydroworks;
  • view of the Public Irrigation Sector in Nigeria.

Enplan Group has in-house geotechnical teams led by qualified geologists and hydrogeologists who have the capability and experience to carry out all forms of surveys, monitoring and mapping using state-of-the-art equipment.
